New Year, New Update
HELLO OUT THERE!!! LONG TIME NO SEE!!!!!
Wow, has it really been 5 months since I last wrote? Yup, five long, but extremely fast months.
Let's see, the last time I was here I was panic-striken about going on vacation in Barbados and leaving Josh for ten days. I got over that after spending a wonderful night before with him and then saying goodbye in Ramon's driveway after an exchange of words between two of the most important men in my life. My best friend and my boyfriend. No worries on either side.
The trip was fantastic, I'll post about it in detail later. Perhaps this weekend. Still haven't developed all of the pictures that I took, but I understand LAW has "stolen" a few for her journal and it's all good. The pics are great and the memories are better.
Came home to a rough time though. While I was literally bouncing around the countryside on the island Josh and his family were having a horrific time. The family barn (which was 250 years old) burned to the ground early in the morning on August 24th. They lost their entire milking herd and a handful of calves and their bull. The family business was shut down completely. No income, no cows, nothing. For days they did nothing but clear the debris and the carcasses. A terrible sight from what I've been told and from the few pictures I've seen.
I truly wish that I had been home to be there for him and the family but unfortunately I wasn't.
His family has decided to rebuild and are in the process of building a new barn as I type these words. A much larger barn with even more heifers. They had 86 milkers, now they're looking at 250+ milkers. Expanding while they can.
Other things have been exciting as well, I started September off as being the community manager for Northern Dutchess for Girl Scouts and have had a rocky start to that. Slowly I'm learning things that no one tells you when you sign up for the job, but I'm surviving.
On September 8th, Josh proposed and we're now engaged to be married on August 25, 2007. YEAH!!!! I couldn't imagine a better match and every day is wonderful.
For our 5 month anniversary (a few days late) he got me a jersey/swiss calf which we promptly named Kit-Kat. He was looking for a straight jersey calf to "replace" the one I had lost in the barn fire. Hershey. Kit's her own creature though with a perky attitude and a penchant for blowing raspberries at people. She always greets me with a kiss though and plays rather nicely with the other calves in the corral.
In late November I moved in with Josh officially at his grandmother's house in a separate "apartment" side of the house with three bedrooms. The cats love it, it's got stairs that they run up and down all day long it seems.
Ryan and Crystil Lee also got engaged in November and we think Rachel won't be too far behind. She and Carl are moving in together after February in California.
Let's see what else has happened...... I'm not sure. It's been a blur, but a fabulously fun blur.
Catch you all later.
